Tunisia salary calculator 2026: gross to net

Convert a gross salary to net (or the reverse) in Tunisia: 9.18% employee CNSS contribution, 2026 income tax scale and family allowances. Monthly and annual results, plus the estimated total employer cost.

From gross to net: the method

Net salary is computed in two steps. First, the 9.18% employee CNSS social contribution is deducted from gross salary. Personal income tax (IRPP) is then applied under the progressive eight-bracket scale (0% to 40% since the 2025 Finance Law), after the flat 10% professional-expenses deduction — capped at TND 2,000 per year — and family allowances (head of household, dependent children). In short: net = gross − CNSS − income tax.

The total employer cost

Beyond gross salary, the employer bears the 16.57% employer CNSS contribution, work-accident insurance, the vocational training tax (TFP) and the housing levy (FOPROLOS) — roughly 20% of additional charges on top of gross. For a TND 2,000 gross salary, the total monthly employer cost is around TND 2,400. The full breakdown is on our employer costs page.

Why this matters to foreign investors

Salary costs are one of Tunisia's strongest arguments for nearshore operations serving European markets: a trilingual professional workforce at a competitive total cost, in the European time zone. Sizing a team therefore requires both figures — what the employee receives net, and what the employer actually pays. This calculator gives both instantly, and our payroll teams take over from there: payslips, CNSS filings and tax compliance under our accounting and payroll outsourcing.

Frequently asked questions

What is the employee CNSS contribution rate?

Under the general non-agricultural regime (RSNA), the employee contribution is 9.18% of gross salary, withheld at source by the employer.

Does the calculation reflect family situation?

Yes, in part: the simulator includes the head-of-household allowance (TND 300/year) and an indicative allowance per dependent child. Specific situations may change the result — check with your payroll manager.

Is the result exact to the dinar?

It is a reliable but indicative estimate: actual payroll may include bonuses, benefits in kind, overtime and adjustments. For official payroll, our teams handle the full calculation and compliance.
